Building on the success of the AUSTRIA CONNECT UK series in previous years, the Austrian Trade Commission London is organising the ninth full-day conference for executives of Austrian subsidiaries in the UK at the Austrian Embassy in London in Central London on 30th April 2025.  


Newly released programme AUSTRIA CONNECT UK 2025

Delegates can expect to gain valuable insights from leading British political, business and innovation experts. This year’s programme will focus on British government and business strategies as well as the current geopolitical environment and its possible impact on and opportunities for business. Does geopolitics trump strategy? Top expert speakers will provide answers. Speakers are currently being confirmed and updates will be published shortly.


At AUSTRIA CONNECT UK 2025 there will again be “time and room” to exchange views and network with event partners and other members of the UK-Austrian business community.

What is AUSTRIA CONNECT UK? 

AUSTRIA CONNECT UK is an annual conference and the only chance to meet a large number of executives from Austrian business in the UK across all industry sectors. The event fosters a meaningful exchange of views,  an open discussion of current challenges and the sharing of best practice. There is ample room to connect with delegates, event partners and stakeholders on an executive level. Leading British political, business and innovation experts provide valuable insights and engage in Q&A sessions.

 

Who is it for?

We invite executives of Austrian subsidiaries in the UK and top managers from Austrian companies with investments or exports in the UK to attend and actively participate in AUSTRIA CONNECT UK 2025. We also expect a number of Austrian startups and scaleups to join this year’s event.

  • Conference participation fee: GBP 180 per person

Before becoming Director at the Office for Investment, John was one of nine Trade Commissioners appointed by the British government to promote the UK in key global markets.


As Head of the Department for Business and Trade in China, he was responsible for bilateral trade issues and worked closely with His Majesty’s Ambassador in Beijing to advance UK trade and prosperity. John has nearly 30 years of experience working for the UK government, including 15 years in China. In his previous roles, he led teams across the country focused on science and innovation, energy, climate change, and health policy.

We are thrilled to welcome back, Professor  as the keynote speaker for AUSTRIA CONNECT 2025, where he will deliver an insightful talk on: Britain 2025: Plans Options and Reality. 


As one of the leading experts on European politics and the UK’s evolving role, Professor Menon brings a wealth of knowledge and deep insights into the political, economic, and social landscape post-Brexit.


About our keynote:

Professor Anand Menon is Director of UK in a Changing Europe. Before joining King’s College London, he was a Professor of West European Politics and founding Director of the European Research Institute at the University of Birmingham. He has held academic positions at Oxford, NYU, Columbia and Brussels and is an associate fellow at Chatham House. He also co-edits the journal West European Politics.

Oliver Jones, EY-Parthenon Global Geostrategy Leader will run an interactive presentation on Why every Business needs a Geostrategy and provide key insights into navigating today’s complex geopolitical landscape and how businesses can strategically position themselves for success.


About our afternoon speaker: 

Oliver has been a partner at EY-Parthenon for over 14 years. Previously, he was a senior civil servant in the UK Government, working in departments including the Prime Minister’s Office and HM Treasury. With an MA in Geography from the University of Cambridge, he supports the public and private sectors in tackling key challenges in economic policy, infrastructure, geopolitics, and sustainability.


Presenter  of Q&A sessions  

Archie Hall writes for The Economist with a focus on the British economy, covering macroeconomic trends, monetary and fiscal policy, and financial markets.


He joined the paper in 2024, having previously worked as a macro investor at Bridgewater Associates and at the Financial Times. He graduated from Harvard and is a two-time world debating champion.
